The US population has been fed a diet - by their politicians and military industrial complex, that they are the Biggest Economy, the Biggest and Best equipped Military and their dollar is the reserve currency. And as such, they control the world.
This is why year after year, they (their population) are willing to spend more than 30% of their annual budget on Defence, whilst the rest of their population suffer from the lack of services and businesses suffer from the lack of infrastructure.
But the rise of China is threatening their hegemony.
And if they (the US) were to become 2nd or 3rd (as India rises) on the economic ladder, their public will ask why they continue to spend almost a Trillion $ on Defence (not including the budget to fight wars) each year.
And when that situation arises, their public will take it out against their politician and military industrial complex.
This is why (IMHO) the US is formenting artificial crises now - to either to sabotage their rise or failing that, to provoke a war; in Taiwan, it is breaking the One China policy they had agreed to; in Xinjiang they are arming the Muslim Uighurs; and in HKG they are funding the protest movements.
The Chinese knows it and the Russian knows it - the Russian knows if China lose the war, they will be totally encircled and will be taken over. So they are backing China now with weapons sales and Joint Military exercises.

If the US does NOT step back, we will have World War 3.
And there are No winners in that nightmarish scenario: anyone who survives that nuclear war, will die slowly from the nuclear winter.
The current action of the US (since Trump) is an extremely junevile behaviour; one that will lead to the destruction of our planet.
We, as citizen of this world (the only home we have) need to voice our concerns before its too late.
The US must step back and focus on infrastructure, education, health, R & D, to improve their competitiveness, rather trying to do a "Tony Harding" against their competitors, by using their military might.
Finally, one should note Indonesia will pass us soon (economically), but we don't feel threatened and you don't see our politicians preparing us for war. Importantly, it does not mean our country will be destroyed - it simply means we need to work harder and invest on our competitiveness, to win back our position.
This is a concept US politicians and their public must learn from.
