In relation to my comment.
I was reffering to the things penicillin can treat , including ear, chest, throat and skin infections. It can also be used to prevent infections if you have sickle cell disease, or if you have had chorea (a movement disorder), rheumatic fever, or your spleen removed.

As someone who has suffered from. Chronic sinusitis in my younger years and grew a resistance to penicillin based deritivites something that is very common and that RCE are addressing, is where my comment came from.

There are many causes of anaphylaxis. To highlight 0.002% of the population having an adverse reaction to penicillin masivley puts the pros out weighing the cons.

To put it into perspective, 1.0 % of people have peanut allergy, estimated that one in every 100 people has a seafood allergy. Both can cause anaphylaxis and death. Does that mean both should not be available for public consumption?


The whole point of having stringent human clinical trailing is to determine the mortality potential, adverse affects and weigh up whether the pros out weigh the cons.

Yes imo, 100% with those rates of adverse reactions would penicillin if cultured and tested today would pass fda approval.

There are multiple drugs approved that are fit for purpose that certain people have an adverse reaction too.

Some people can't take a simple ibuprofen.
