in the case I mentioned they do - to the current owners --
rego pays for some of it of course
maint. on many of these current EV's is stuff all
it's not like owning an ICE car.
if the govt. - when it brings in some sort of tax - doesn't require existing owners to fit tracking or whatever they are going to do to collect the tax
then, current owners will have use of the cars for FREE - beyond normal rego and insurance, maint. ------ if they charge up using solar or solar to storage at home - then, they will never get a fuel bill
this is a simple concept - and, my guess is that current owners have a big chance of this becoming true.
I can see that these current cars - far from dropping a lot of new car value - may well have a premium on their second hand sale price if that happens
