Do yourself a favor and have a go on an ebike. A pedal assist one that is. You will be amazed at how good they are.

I recommend going to a exhibition/ride day where you can ride all the different types. You will be blown away by how fast the better ones are.

Yes, it does take it away a bit from a fitness perspective if that's what you're doing but that's not really the point.

Using an ebike to commute means that you don't have to get all sweaty and need a shower at work. It's a great solution for inner city workers that don't have to travel huge distances. 5-10-20ks is a piece of cake.

Heaps of mountain bikers use pedal assist now. They use it to increase their range so that they can do bigger rides over more difficult terrain. It has really opened things up for them.

The oldies I have met out and about love them. They tell me it has got them back in the game otherwise they wouldn't be riding at all. They can do rail trails etc where there's not too many large inclines and the ebike is just enough to get the job done.

I am also noticing all the boomers with ebikes on the back of their caravans now. No need to worry about parking in town. No need to worry about unhooking the tow vehicle. Just get on the ebike and away they go.

I look forward to your report after you try one.
