Actually I believe Terrapower will use spent nuclear fuel in their reactors. This is great because it will give nuclear waste a second life. I think the spent fuel still has 2/3rds of its potential energy available, it’s just not as useable in current generation reactors.
In terms of our bull case which I am all in for, this isn’t a bad thing, this tech is still a while away (late 2020s), the demand and need for clean energy is now which is why Govts are doubling down on nuclear energy.
But I love that Bill Gates is actively promoting nuclear energy as the future of power generation, which makes it easier to get people on board for radical new thinking around nuclear as a clean and safe energy source.I think by the time Bills next-gen reactors are ready, mass adopted and online we will all be off this cyclical U bull run.
