there' a couple of points -----------
1. IMO - I'm 100% convinced that society - human life as we know it - is going to be basically almost unrecognisable in the next say - 50 years (doesn't matter if it's 20 years or 100 years)
I see that our entire way of life will be totally different ---- in the end - I don't even think we will have such a thing as an 'economy' ------ but, along the way - no one will do paid labour and IMO - I think that the vast majority of us won't have human partners. I also think that almost all of our decisions of government will be made by AI or something similar - of this - I'm totally convinced for many reasons.
2. will it be a good thing or a bad thing (or somewhere in between)?
well????? on that - at this stage - I fall onto the optimistic side of the fence - why?
well, because I have no reason to fall onto the other side and IMO - there's solid evidence that we take on new technologies that benefit us - and, we let die, technologies that either don't benefit us or are outdated
there's exceptions of course --------- armament would be an exception - but, then - there's pros and cons in a lot of that as well
for me - I see that having an electronic translator - a gps and mapping system in my pocket is a bloody good idea and tool - in comparison to wandering around carrying my stone axe.
on an additional note ------------- lately - I've been thinking about if I had a chance to go back and live a life in times past ---------------- my thoughts are -
why the hell would I want to do that? ----------- I know what's going to happen - so, what would be the point?
the present - well, it's the present - and, mostly - the present is always as boring as batshit ------------------ the future though - that's a different kettle of fish ----
why? -- well, yeah sure, there could be a shitstorm at every corner - but, looking back to where I was wandering about here - in the stone age - compared to where I am now in the same place - wandering about on a canal with a diesel heater and heading out looking fabulous on a MTB with a smart little girl in my ear telling me to turn left here or turn right here
well -------------- stick the stone axe mate ------------ I'll go with the iphone and ear buds thanks
going forward ------- I can only see it getting better - as it has been all the way through ------------- be nice if the dickheads who want to start wars and stop progress would get out of the way ----------- but, -------- we're working on it
