Biden has now confirmed the US and allies retreat from and defeat in Afghanistan.

The longest war in US history of 20 years was said to have cost US$2 trillion, the lives of around 2440 US military personnel with 10s of thousands more carrying scars of their involvement for the rest of their lives in part due to their futile pursuit of democracy.

Australia’s PM Scotty from marketing said today it’s remaining 80 troops would also leave.

41 Australian soldiers were killed during Australia’s fruitless participation in another American war ostensibly aimed at bringing democracy to the war torn country and destroying alQuaeda and Taliban networks thought responsible for 9/11.

the reality of the situation though was quite different.

the US involvement mostly just reflected the intrinsic bloodlust of the Washington War Party and the needs of America’s biggest industry - the industrial/military complex - to maximise materiel production and profits.

australia was so utterly clueless about its involvement in this genocide and destruction of a country that it couldn’t even tell its front line soldiers who their enemy were, which of course resulted in the atrocities we’ve heard about in recent months.

what an exercise in utter futility for Australia. AUstralian blood spilled on foreign soil and the murder of countless innocent foreign nationals in the name of Australia.

would Australia’s absence from the Afghanistan horror show even have been noticed. At least once in my life, which is nearing its end, i hope Australia can stand up and say no. Just once.

and the upshot of it all? Afghanistan is returned to the people who live there.
