and when Peru permits drop...or the Frewena assays come in sweet...they will disappear until the momentum slows again...which is why I suspect they are simply disingenuous traders.
In the meantime, I see some trying to work out copper values etc. in the pending assays for NDIBK04
The actual copper content in chalcopyrite is 34.6% - the rest is made up of Fe and S.
The actual copper content in bornite is 63.3% - the rest is also made up of Fe and S.
Put another ways:
- For every 1% of chalcopyrite logged in a piece of core, that piece of core will have 0.346% Cu – or 3,460ppm Cu.
- For every 1% of bornite logged in a piece of core, that piece of core will have 0.633% Cu – or 6,330ppm Cu.
- So… for a piece of core with 2% combined chalcopyrite (1%) and bornite (1% - so assuming equal levels), that piece of core will have 0.979% Cu – or 9,790ppm Cu – let’s say 1%.
- For a piece of core with 5% combined chalcopyrite (2.5%) and bornite (2.5%), that piece of core will have 2.4475% Cu – 24,475 ppm Cu – let’s say 2.5%.
- So… combined chalcopyrite and bornite %’s (assuming equal levels) equates to just under half that in copper %’s.
- C+B% of 2 = 1% Cu.
- C+B% of 5 = 2.5% Cu.
- C+B% of 10 = 5% Cu.
- You get the drift…
With average Cu grades of Tier-1 copper mines being between 0.4% and 0.5% Cu you only need to see about 1% B+C.
Also, keep in mind the numbers we have to date are off PXRF (portable xrf readers) they only measure the mineral content in a tiny spot on the surface of the core. The assays are going to start painting the real picture.
PS The Aussie tenements are not a distraction, they are every bit as important as Peru. To some of us more important.
PPS One days driving closer to the Alice. Time for a beer.
