Mate, I might just add this. If the home was a taxable entity, the ATO would have applied Part IVA of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936 to strike down this exorbitant payment of rent to the church AND impose hefty fines (likely min of 40% of the tax avoided plus a per annum interest component). If I was ScoMo I would have a very good look at this transfer of funds and maybe find a way of clawing it back into consolidated revenue and then go after other "non-profits" and their shenanigans! Really teach these bu@#ers a lesson. I suspect though that our Govts (all of them and please forget party politics here) have NO ba@ls!
