What a flog this bloke is.. Whilst I feel for any grieving family for the loss of a loved one, it is such a populist, disgraceful move from the PM wannabe
The citations, medals, awards etc etc are meaningless badges, pieces of paper blah blah blah, doesn't bring the soldier back from the dead ! Families clinging onto a citation and Dutton bought them so cheaply with such a move.
Professional soldiers, get paid, very well, get free healthcare, dental, subsidised housing the list goes on.. On this basis the Australian people should expect an exemplary standard of behaviour, the same as which all the rest of us are subject to in our jobs, in society, in the community.
Military command depends entirely on the discipline and subordination of the whole team.. One plays up, the whole team gets whacked, that's the only way it works, has always worked and will always work.. I fully support the decision of Campbell and it once it blew over the staff would have accepted this situation.
Dutton is a soft populist and he should hang his head in shame for utilising the agony of a family who lost one of our best for his own personal political gain and to undermine one of our most senior and experienced military leaders.
Let the Generals run the military and hand out the punishment when it's due.
Dutton should stick to his own grubby activities and stop using the military to score cheap points
