When you get to the point of thinking about life "what the hell is this?!!", you'll automatically start to search for what's running the sim, or what's behind the curtain (to use the wizard of Oz reference). The question "What the hell is this?" need not come from a point of desperation - it can be pure curiosity. Maybe you've noticed some anomalies (glitches, to use the Matrix reference). So many movies are based upon the Perennial Philosophy. There must be 30 or so I reckon, many of them big hits, apart from 'Bliss' which Rotten Tomatoes gave a 27%!
