Politics is a game and ScoMo plays it pretty well, that's why he's climbed the greasy pole to the PM's office.
He can say one thing - but let the system do another. That's exactly how he got the top job - he told Malcolm Turnbull "I'm backing you 100%" but in the end he said 'hey, it was the party and the system that wanted me to assume the throne, so that's the way it goes'.
Same thing will happen here.
