I have not followed the detail of the Opes issue and the quantum of any proposed settlement. And you personally are obviously very aggrieved by what has occurred.

Although I have owned ANZ shares very recently, I do not currently own any shares so my comments here are not influenced in any way by a desire to minimise any loss to ANZ.

I was previously involved in a legal dispute with my employer. It was very messy and I had lost out in terms of remuneration that was due to me. I felt very aggrieved by my treatment and was taking legal action. A settlement offer was made to me, there were some negotiation and a final settlement was agreed. I did not get everything that I wanted or that I felt was due, but I knew that I had to move on and leave this chapter of my life behind me. I do not have any regrets about reaching that settlement even though I did not get what was due. It was a matter of moving on (think I repeated myself a bit there)

Obviously, you need to think about what works for you, but there is usually only one winner from legal action and it may not be you. it is worth thinking about whether you really want to take a win or lose approach or try and reach a compromise. Just my thoughts..............
