The "Strong Sell" recommendation on E*Trade from one SB has been there for a very long time and could be a remnant research piece from when the ABC fiasco looked terminal for AEU. The research may not have been updated or revisited in recent times.
Probably of more interest (to me anyway) is that a major shareholder , Acorn Capital, has increased its stake in AEU recently.
I have invested in several smaller companies in past years where Acorn Capital has been a significant shareholder. Invariably they make good decisions and in most of the cases where they (and I) have held shares the company performs well.
There have been recent articles in NZ media about the sale, as a going concern, of the ABC business in NZ. It appears that there are a 'few preferred bidders' and that the ABC business is making money, has 84% child occupancy and is attracting interest. A couple of names mentioned in the articles are Kidicorp and a Christchurch Property Developer. Seems positive news for AEU, in terms of being the landlord and getting the rent paid.
I have been buying lots of AEU and at these prices am keen for a bit more!
