Religious sacrifices in days gone by were animal based as the smell were supposedly pleasing to the deity being worshipped - vegetable based sacrifices were never mentioned as a replacement.

That said, there is momentum for plant based products purporting to replace meat with texture and taste - I'm not there yet to replace my roast or goat curry either and if you're a vegetarian then why would you want a meat replacement anyway?? My guess is that the push is more toward existing meat eaters and for JAT this means their product needs to be on par or very nearly so - I remember my very first taste of a soy based sausage being barbequed - it was my first and my last, whereas a veal or pork sausage still lands on my plate regularly.

I do however, also like good real plant based vegetarian dishes and I make and consume such regularly without hesitation or reservations.

If any JAT products happens to appear on supermarket shelves I will endeavour to try it and judge for myself.
