Certainly agree, there is no legal obligation to do so.
There is a difference between spilling the beans and gaining some news that would be of interest to stock holders.
There is of course going to be more market interest knowing that Tony has admitted there are 'two serious offers on the table'. This means that negotiations are outstanding and a resolution is possible. The alternative would be not knowing if the venture is getting any bites - which would be highly unfavourable.
If the market buys on speculation and sells on fact, peoples speculation regarding the negotiations will drive the price further up, for all intensive purposes Tony's fuelling exactly that - speculation. Considering it is being discussed on HC means that it is a calculated move to release the information.
