I may be wrong but I suspect he was talking to someone else, may have been unknownsoldier or someone else you may have on ignore. I have had same issue where a post was replying to someone I had blocked, I could see the post but it hid the "reply to" bit of the post and I thought it was directed at me. Only when I unblocked the other poster did I see what I misunderstood. I remember seeing his comment and you taking offence. Thought it looked like a misunderstanding.
