In the end he didn't but that's how I took it at first. Hence I asked questions.

I tend to think Vic builders and home purchasers won't jump onto double brick or brick structural walls. They will likely keep using the same method. Materials and cost.

Growing up in Vic i mostly experienced brick veneer. I wanted to clarify why the cost of slab for bricks would be different between hx and manual labor but its not and CDT helped clarify that.

I can see fbr being involved however it will take a little more work and further change in processes.

What I mean is I think hx with the current laying head they won't be able to lay bricks after the timber frame and roof trusses are in place first (current practice). I dont think brick veneer will be FBR's first priority but its still worth thinking about how they could tackle this.

without to much thought I see two options. 1. Change the laying head but even then you need to get around to all walls and hx won't often have access to move from road or front of house. 2. Change order and prefabricate structural walls and roof trusses to come in after bricks. I think I finally understand why he has been saying it will cost more to work with bricks because manually doing the timber frame and roof after bricks isn't great.

The approach i see is simple. FBR have software to lay bricks with millimetre accuracy. They are working on software for following trades (a bit of a track and trace for the whole build not just the bricks). Now the timber structural walls and roof trusses due to hx accuracy can be prefabricated. Changing the order of process non structural brick walls go up first, structural timber comes in after and will be installed on site quicker.

This is why I thought it worthwhile engaging with CDT. He was showing off but he was called out. Finding ways to work with different build types will only help in the long run. My good mate in Vic is a builder and has had similar concerns. Now I understand what he means I can invision a process that allows hx a market share in brick veneer however convincing the brick veneer builders and demonstrating a change in processes will take more time than our structural brick wall methods were used to.

Overall this has been a worthy conversation for me. We should first ask builders questions and then discuss potential solutions.

He hasn't come across like the others in the communication I've had with him but I've also been considerate.
