But I can claim to have lived a couple of years in the fine City of Mank, bang on the corner of Oldham Street and Piccadilly Gardens.
You see, I drew the short straw in the London office, and was exiled, banished, to cover 'The North' and Scotland, which I happily did by train.
Copping endless ribbings from the friendly alcoholics, who inhabit the lands time forgot, made a man of me. I even switched me fave tipple from Pimms & Dry to warm Brown Ale.
And I also learned why the Good Lord gave me a Norwegian Mam - the ultimate 'more Northern than you, ya soft basstad' card to play in tight corners - saving my facial features from being rearranged a couple of times.
Nearly always though, get past the initial 5 or 10 minutes of southern-phobic abuse, and the native folk turn just lovely like, best pals, and right chatty.
OK. I feel it too, the venom in my guts at the sell out to the gouging scum bags, the filthy slumdogs of low finance.
Why? Why go to sleazy loan sharks for cash? Eric, aren't we loyal holders faithful and true, like family? Don't we have your back?
Feels a stupidly low blow, and yet I've been through this twice already in the past few months. WBT and IVZ.
The same fury. The same 'WTF, we didn't even need this CR!' The same shameless discount, and same awful timing, kicking our building SP momentum straight in the bollocks.
We can speculate on the why, just why? We can speculate on the backroom sleaze and betrayal. But I can't explain the choices.
What I can do is point to WBT and IVZ. Real world outcomes. Soon after the CR sell outs, the SP's made major gains, eventually spiking hard before settling back into a significantly higher SP.
So, hate the Hartley's giveaway, but I'm OK here.
I'll trust our famously frugal Eric will put his crisp $40 million to excellent use, drilling the fabulous assets we've been sitting on for years.
