The state is waiting for the statutory authority that manages Port Hedland – the Pilbara Ports Authority – to complete a review before it selects which exporter can access the new berths.​

Pilbara Ports Authority government affairs director Deirdra Tindale told The Australian Financial Review on April 8 that the review was “anticipated to be completed later this year”.​

Ms Tindale later clarified that she was referring to the calendar year, not the financial year.
That suggests it could be as late as December before the industry gets clarity on who will get access to the precious port capacity at a time of booming iron ore prices.... “​

Maybe it suggests the fair Deidra is a tease?
But even if not, it’s only another 236 days to Christmas .
