I know there's a strongly 'entrenched' school of thought and 'wisdom' which says one should 'ignore' 'Trolls' and not 'feed them' and many subscribe to the 'theory' that this is the best way of dealing with them ?
The more I've seen, experienced and tried interacting with said culprit(s) over the last year or 2, of this my first 'green' experience on this front... I disagree.
I think the best way of dealing with them is to respond to their posts in a thoughtful, honest, rational, reasoned, respectful way with evidence if possible highlighting just how 'inadequate', ridiculous or misleading their posts may be. I've seen quite a few from one source in particular.
Of course respect is due but only comes when there's reciprocation and reasonableness.
I think the more input we have and the more we hear and can tap into the grey matter of all the well credentialed, knowledgeable, diverse and the hitherto 'silent' onlookers/majority ? along with their opinions and perspectives, the better off we'll all be and I expect the Trolls will eventually have no choice but be forced to eventually disappear into obscurity where they belong.
