Extremely interesting thread. Can someone please humour me, as a bit of a novice in these matters, and summarise what deflationary periods we have had? Where, when and what caused them? I know about Japan but only vaguely and I don't really know what caused it. We hear about the inflationary periods all the time... Weimar Republic, Argentina (which I experienced when I lived there in 1981) and now Zimbabwe, but we never seem to hear about the deflation in the popular media. Thanks in advance if anyone has the time.
