This is a book by Nancy Mitford which, coupled with Love in a Cold Climate, gave an account of the people in and around her family in the period between the wars. Fictionalised though it is, it still gives a humorous picture of the generation known as the Bright Young Things. Emily Mortimer, the British actress is writing and directing a new movie of Pursuit of Love and was recently interviewed about it on the BBC. I'll wait and see, but my impression of what she had to say was that she was going to do a makeover of it in a kind of contemporary manner. There have been two TV series of the novels. The first was excellent as I remember but you can't get it now as far as I know. The second, titled Love in a Cold Climate, was also very good and is worth seeing. I hope Ms Mortimer doesn't spoil one of my favourite stories.
