Hi there pabs, well 1st point is QS had to admit ( busted) its not a true solid state by definition as the electrolyte is a quasi solid, not solid. They don’t seem to have any graphite in their cell design, but who’d know?
At a guess , (Talga hold their cards close) it might be something this this article that MT liked https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsenergylett.0c01628?goto=supporting-info
Here this cell design were using a type of activated graphite ( grey) with a seem less interface between the electrolyte which allows migration ( diffusion) of the Li- ions unhindered.
It differs from other solid state where the activated material is a composite with the electrolyte (yellow) ie mixed together.
Seemingly with good results and stable, plus allows scaling up as no composite is required.
Here’s the twitter feed. Note MT says hybrid anode. He also makes the point that tweaking graphite has a long way to go. ( so the benefits of Si and graphene and certain morphology I assume).
Cheers.
