Sand into the well bore during test is def a result of perforations across an unconsolidated sand formation. If people look at the core pics they showed us last month you can see this clearly. At the time id said they could drive a bus through those pores, well, yep actually can drive a B double laden with sand through them. This is excellent news for the formation's flow/production characteristics. It confirms the very little to no diagenetic cementing of the sand grains. Which means a lot of the porosity will contribute to permeability, i.e. the effective porosity will be approaching the total porosity number.
As you said Ya, my thoughts were they could place an inner sleeve/sand screen to mitigate this - it will reduce the ID of the production casing arrangement, but the flows from this are going to be huge, so I don't think it will have a material impact.
