Sorry missed your last line there Grangeh.
It would be nice to build our own line but how much would a 400km oil pipeline from Johnstone to Alice Springs cost? I shudder to think. I might ring the company to see if I can milk some information out of them:)

"Licence 1 - Palm Valley Pipeline
Completed in 1983. Supplies natural gas to Alice Springs area. Length -140km long; Internal diameter - 8 inch; Maximum operating pressure - 7000kPa. [top]

Licence 2 - Mereenie Oil Pipeline
Completed in 1985. Carries crude oil from the Mereenie oil and gas field to Brewer Estate south of Alice Springs for transhipment to South Australia. Length - 269km; Internal diameter - 8 inch; Maximum operating pressure - 9000 kPa.

Licence 4 - Amadeus Basin to Darwin Pipeline
Completed in 1986. Supplies natural gas to Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and other centers either directly or through connecting pipelines. Length - 1660km; Internal diameter - mainly 12 and 14 inch; Maximum operating pressure - 9,650kPa (with the exception of the 116km Mereenie lateral which is designed for 10,150kPa)."
