No raider, that is not the crux of the current matter !
The crux of the matter is quite eloquently coverd by Paul Murray in today's West Australian. I suggest you buy a copy to be enlightened on the dysfunction and hyposcisy within the McGowan government. This dysfunction permeates the McGowan government in many areas within the Ministery and Public Service and in this particular instance it IS Roger Cook who needs to go as the chief hypocrite. His negligence regarding his responsibilities in the Health Portfolio reveal a complete abrogation of his duties. He is ultimately respsonsible for the funding of the hospital system and overseeing the Board and staffing at WA's hospitals. He has been found culpably wanting !
Cook as Health Minister, has over recent years been alongside McGowan, grandstanding at every opportunity during the CCP virus plague, but when push comes to shove, his hypocrisy on basic health necessities has been found wanting and he has been exposed as an empty vessel. His promises have not been fulfilled.
With a massive surplus thanks exclusively to WA's iron ore exports, the government can't even provide much needed funding for essential triage services and other desperately necessary support for hospitals. The understaffing is responsible also for Ambulance ramping where patients must endure inordinately long waiting times prior to admission ! Cook is out of his depth!
Furthermore, within today's West, the government has been shown to be willingly incompetent and inept in not providing promised legislative protection for building contractors.
The Governments long promised insurance protection for sub contractors has not been implimented and consequently the massive building company Pindan which is now in Administration, leaves multi million dollars of contractural work completely exposed and ulikely to be recovered ! Think of all the mental anquish and financial losses that those workers and smaller companies will now endure as they in turn risk bankruptcy ! The "Party for the workers", I think not.
The collapse of Pindan (are there others to follow?); the inept oversight of the hospital operations and; as disclosed in the Murray report, other Departmental cover-ups (and jobs for the boys and girls), clearly give grave concern for the efficient operations of the current government. Cook's head should definitley roll.
Whilst McGowan has a mandate for 4 years and falsely expresses "all is well with everything", clearly WA is facing a term under an obdurate government which apparently conceals its scheming intentions from the public and is the epitome of hypocrisy!
The Libs have long road ahead to reclaim government however, if McGowan and his Ministers and Public Servants continue to act in the way they are, that road will be shortened.
My heart bleeds for the parents of Aishwarya that such a lovely little girl was taken from them by a system inadequately administered by today's McGowan government and in particular by a Health Minister who has been missing in action. Cook needs to go and an independent Commission established to oversee the requirements of our hospItal system. The government then needs to be immediately accountable for the expeditious implimentaion of it's recommendations.
The current ogovernment has the funding and the unfettered opportunity to advance Western Australia during its current term. Let's hope it lives up to that opportinity and its current and future promises. We can't be confident it will and I suspect the voter's remorse at giving them unfettered power will be reflected in any event at the next election.
