Im not sure what you mean, water from aquifers differs a lot in the range from drinkable to undrinkable brine and some undrinkable gets an osmotic treatment at surface to improve its quality. All over the world in the shale oil and coal seam gas industries water is reinjected into aquifers. Doing this is a technical issue which should be resolvable. It would seem pretty obvious that the solution will involve reinjecting bine into similar brine rather than contaminating drinkable or near drinkable water. Hydrology is a pretty advanced science I would be very surprised if they fing re injection too hard. The article I posted above gives more weight to the permitting process and the need to ensure that your not adding contaminants to the brine that you are re injecting.
Water table management in the lithium triangle is a hot button issue with some local inhabitants putting up physical and legal barriers to companies that are perceived to be draining the aquifer. LKE/lilac potentially has the answer to water politics in this area. That why I think that Direct extraction will become the new industry standard. Lake is pioneering this technology and is best placed to reap its rewards. DLE is the future and the market is yet to wake up.
