TLS is between a rock and a hard place, whether to buy the NBN or not?

Actually, the NBN was first implemented as a 'backbone' fibre to the premises best practice investment for Australia. There are situations where fibre to the premises results in a superior and more reliable connection. The NBN was always seen as an 'investment' that would one day be sold to fund Australia's next big infrastructure need. Thus it was what is called "off balance sheet" item.

Unfortunately, for ideological reasons. the Abbott government claimed costs needed to be cut and gave us an inferior product that is worth a lot less.
This government is now spending upwards of $4billion to give us an inferior 'fibre to the curb' alternative. Mostly in an attempt to give the NBN value that is not as high as the original fibre to the premises method.

Implementing the NBN as fibre to the premises would have given us a more valuable asset. It would have taken longer but cost less than the 'fix' they are now trying with 'fibre to the curb'.

If you do research you will find that the government drastically inflated the cost of Labor's original plan and lied about the costs saved by going fibre to the node.
