So, to be clear here... what should governments have done, and what should they now do?
Should they have:
A. Built new refineries (thereby not "moving away from fossil fuels", as "being pushed for by younger generations"),
or
B. Not built new refineries (i.e., "let the market decide"), which is what has happened?
Seems like you have adopted a conveniently hedged position here, one in which governments were/are at fault no matter what they did/do.
