I've compared the the FE content of the magnetite to WA's Karara. Also I know for a fact the ore at Karara is soooo hard almost like granite.
Magnetite ore has lower iron content (34-36% Fe) than hematite ore (58-64% Fe). It must be upgraded by a complex ore treatment process (beneficiation) to produce a high-grade (+65% Fe) concentrate for steelmaking.
Kogi's ore is a lot more concentrated
The Company holds a land position which covers a large part of the Agbaja Plateau. The Agbaja Plateau hosts an
extensive, shallow, flat-lying channel iron deposit with an Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resource of 586 million
tonnes with an in-situ iron grade of 41.3% reported in accordance with the JORC Code (2012) – Refer ASX
announcement 10 December 2013. This mineral resource covers approximately 20% of the prospective plateau
area within ML24606 and ML24607. I have been told by Mr Burston this Kogi ore is very accessible and very soft and friable requiring very little blasting.
Export of Iron Ore
As reported by the Company in its ASX releases of 18 February 2021 and 31 March 2021, the
Company has had confirmation by the Nigerian Ministry of Mines and Steel Development that the
Nigerian Federal Government current ban on the export of raw ore remains in place.
Maybe this is why the big players have not bothered with Kogi.
Kogi is to fulfil the domestic demand. Not Chinas probably why large player are not bothered.
The from what I can see having spent plenty of time working around iron ore mines including magnetite KFE have a plum resource and in my opinion the BFS is almost a forgone conclusion. Let's see what questions come up and get answered at the 11/06/21 General meeting .
I guess time will tell let's hope they get it right this time hey.
As for Gupta I'll have to check that out. Good luck.
