There was a lot of chatter about shorting talk on Monsanto in the US over the past few days. Am waiting for an updated top 20 shareholder list...only 18 shareholders pre capital raising held more than 1m shares and 6 of these were related parties. So the long liquidation would have to point to one of the big boys like HSBC, JP Morgan, National Nominees or ANZ Nominees winding back given the volumes going though.

But given all the broker forecasts how does that make much sense given consensus 12 month targets at averaging around $12 post earnings revision - unless they are freeing up some cash for the various capital raisings elsewhere in the market.

We are on target for 50m shares or almost 25% of issued change hands in 3 weeks....fair enough 30m were raised recently but an updated Top 20 holder listing should be very revealing.
