Toyota introduced JIT into Japan, and soon most other Japanese brands followed suite. It was a success because of the high level of discipline and diligence of their Japanese suppliers big and small. As they diversified manufacturing into low cost economies, it became more difficult to execute.
It wasn’t successful in America and Europe because auto manufacturers and there suppliers lacked the discipline and diligence to maintain JIT. Similar in Oz, although volumes here also made it tricky.
Auto manufacturing also is quite complicated, with a plethora of components and parts to contend with - thus an associated large and wide range of suppliers to co-ordinate.
Our battler will have a much simpler logistical exercise, and with Socionext (Japanese) and TSMC ( Taiwanese) involved in the supply chain, it’ll work a treat.
Three months from receipt of a customer order to delivery - this will save our battler and its customers heaps, because they won’t have to hold expensive inventory, and it will allow far greater flexibility. Get you heads around this Coppers, a flexible, efficient and inexpensive supply chain is just as important in the grand scheme of things as a trend-setting product.
