I can't argue with the Causes behind the current situation, and I totally agree that ScoMo was stupid when he blindly did Donald's dirty work for him. That Xi has seen fit to escalate the situation by initiating a Trade war is playing Tit for Tat. I personally defended China's actions initially, like you I believe that demand far outweighs supply so there should be room for everybody;

However China IS stretching its wings and RE's are strategically critical for modern weapons systems. So unless the West can secure its own supplies we will soon have no option but to allow China to dominate the Indo-Pacific region (that includes Australia).

The control of 'Natural Resources' has been a driver behind every modern war, it is not something that should be ignored by burying our heads in the sand hoping that it will just go away.

If/When the West has secured a sufficient supply of RE's, China will drop its attempts at maintaining the Monopoly and relations should eventually return to normal, allowing Market forces to set prices.
