Hey All here on the Charting/TA thread,

I have made it my mantra never to post here unless it has something interesting to do with TA & (not clog up your great work).

I saw some posts today regarding colours used in charts.

Did you know that red/green colourblindness affects 1:12 males and around 1:200 females in the population. So as sure as there will be a lockdown in VIC this weekend, it’s entirely possible that a lot of people are having to go that extra mile to read what you guys post with red/green.

A while ago, I was preparing some different types of charts (basic bar graph stuff) for a clinical research presentation at a conference. It even mentioned in this medical conference criteria that when presenting posters, we should be mindful of readers with colour blindness & address it in choice of colours.

I know one of our Specialists is colourblind, so asked his opinion of how he saw it (red/green) & he straight up told me it looked “all grey & pretty crap to him”. I changed the colours to blue/orange & much better differentiation.

It is something that maybe a lot of people don’t realise they have, until they try to get into the ADF or police force, especially the bomb squad with those wires (a friend this did happen too), because it’s ‘normal’ to them.

My brother was knocked back from Army Reserves at 18yo for a rare blue/yellow colourblindness, but red-green is that common one & I have quite a few male friends with it...Telecom did not make purple phones in the 80’s FYI
