A book I read early in the piece was "Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits" by Philip Fisher. In brief he opened a brokerage firm in the depths of the Great Depression... and had a front row seat on the unfolding new economy of plastics and electronics.
I believe we are going through a similar complete transformation of the World again.
In the early stages of the automobile, in the US, there were over 100 different marques. A handful survived and only a couple really prospered.
That's the mental template working in my head for how to make sense of what is going on.
