Dumb question, but why do BET want TAB? BET have positioned themselves as the essential plumbing for any wagering business and have done well making acquisitions in this space. Their customers are sticky and their revenue should grow as they can offer more 'services' in this space and make more strategic acquisitions.
By going for TAB, now they become competitors to their own clients, creating friction. They'll have this dual vision of growing their wagering business and growing the B2B business. I get maybe going after the media assets as this could be another 'service' to offer to their B2B clients, but I just don't get why they want to get into retail wagering.
Can someone explain what I'm missing?
