And that wouldn't have anything to do with the exchange rate between Pounds Stirling and lil' ole Aussie dollar would it Cloudnine? Everything's cheap here when you're cashed up with the Pound; doesn't mean it's affordable for people earning the Aussie dollar though.

By the way, the article you posted about expensive cities does not mean Australia is "cheap" by any standards - taken totally out of context I would think.
