All speculation (not advice) - A look at PointFuse
We know that the Airovant (https://airovant.com/) acquisition was to a) Increase US manpower/footprint, b) speed up the sales cycle with utilities such as PG&E and c) Gain additional tech/expertise. We have also seen an increase in European customers for Pointerra, particularly in the AEC sector.

I recently noticed some interaction between Pointerra staff and Leica on Linkedin.
Leica Geosystems (https://leica-geosystems.com/)) is the geospatial division Hexagon (https://hexagon.com/) and both have Linkedin Pointerra connections between the management teams so maybe they are already working together. Leica Geosystems offer laser scanning/digital twins (https://leica-geosystems.com/en-in/industries/pure-surveying/get-inspired-to-grow-your-business/laser-scanning) and also have software that powers 3D modelling called Jetstream. Now if we can serve Leica Geo or more broadly Hexagon that gives Pointerra massive global exposure.

Leica Geosystems recently (1/6/2021) mentioned their partnership with Pointfuse (which seems to actually have started in May 2020 https://pointfuse.com/pointfuse-and-leica-geosystems-announce-a-new-software-and-global-cooperation/).

Possible Collaboration/Acquisition? - Rational:
* The PointFuse director has two connections with Pointerra management on LinkedIn.
* Currently uses software but perhaps the tech could be possibly deployed to the cloud with assistance from Pointerra? Pointfuse has developed a new version of Leicas software, called PointFuse, powered by JetStream, that provides users of Leica Geosystems solutions with a Scan-2-BIM workflow within the Leica Jetstream ecosystem. Taking its place within the Jetstream ecosystem, PointFuse, powered by JetStream, is configured with tailored profiles specifically for Leica Geosystems 3D laser scanners, including the Leica Geosystems LGS file format, to ensure best results first time round.

Another point of interest - UK and US started formally working together on BIM:On the 25th of May a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was announced between representatives for the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (US) cementing a pledge to work together on the development of the US National Building Information Management (BIM) Program.
