Until this evening I did not know that Norwegian-based Yara International has an ammonia plant and an ammonium nitrate plant colocated in the Pilbarra.

At https://www.yara.com.au/news-and-media/news/yararenewablehydrogen/ one reads that Yara's dabble in green ammonia obtained $42.5m in Government support to build one of the world’s first industrial-scale renewable hydrogen production operations in Australia, and $2m from the WA Government to assist site selection, permitting and stakeholder engagement. The total spend would obviously be greater than $44.5m, and NWH getting a sliver of the business would be welcome.

The Engie-Yara partnership is one of three projects selected by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to get a total of $103.3 million in funding grants to kickstart large-scale renewable hydrogen production in Australia. In my earlier post I thought of mentioning that the green-is-good story could be used to elicit government grants, and favourable commercial loans, but to avoid doing more research, I dropped mentioning the idea. In Early English the last four words could have been articulated by the word swied – we should bring swie, swies and swied back into Modern English.
