Since like 1854 when the found Cryolite whilst mining Lead... Surprise. Yes it was a Lead mine first. The Greenland miners have been solely focused on Cryolite (aka White Gold) because they had a World Wide captive market. This product turned the most expensive metal to smelt at the time (aluminium) to an affordable product with significantly reduced smelting temps that was light weight, strong and simply changed the world. From building, transport and food storage ect.
These totally unequaled facts give rise to an extraordinary range of potential when you realise that Cryolite was not formed in isolation, but one of a range of minerals. Yet, due to isolation in Greenland, it was a major logistical feet to mine and ship out White Gold, let alone worrying about things like Quartz, Zinc, Lead and potentially other things the 1800 miners had zero idea about.
