I watched Four Corners last night with particular interest and was troubled by aspects of the program. So I've now read the transcript and that worry remains as it pertains to the following portion of the episode:
LOUISE MILLIGAN, REPORTER: Despite being asked repeatedly, the Prime Minister has not answered Four Corners’ questions on the record about whether Tim Stewart passed on information to him about the wording of the apology.
Immediately after the apology, Tim Stewart began tweeting triumphantly using his Twitter account @BurnedSpy34: What a great speech, @ScottMorrisonMP acknowledging the victims of ritual abuse. A new conversation began today in Australia. It was a stepping stone to be sure, but we took the step. @ScottMorrisonMP took control of the narrative powerfully and commenced phase 1 of our restoration.
LOUISE MILLIGAN, REPORTER: Tim Stewart’s son Jesse who is also a QAnon follower, celebrated on Twitter using QAnon codes and hashtags. ACTOR’S VOICE: You know #TheGreatAwakening is in full swing when the Australian Prime Minister @ScottMorrisonMP mentions #RitualAbuse.
Thus I'm uncomfortable with the possibility a QAnon fruitcake has the ear of our PM. Especially if the PM was influenced to change a national apology to include a contentious term.
However given Four Corners propensity to make stuff up, their claims cannot be automatically trusted and first need verification. In particular that section of the report quoted above. Sadly these days, Four Corner's reputation is in tatters so potential legitimate issues get treated with derision, or dismissed out of hand as 'the boy who cried wolf' fairy tales.
If undue influence is verified, ScoMo has an uncomfortable issue to address. Further, on face value, this episode also accounts for the 'fortuitous' timing of the backflip over the Tamil scammers, effectively snuffing-out last nights Four Corners in today's news.
