    Good points @Ryzie, thanks for sharing and yes that's an important qualifier you make - @uninformed82 is probably speaking from the consumer's point of view - I hadn't considered that - so he/she is correct that "all debt is debt", to the consumer I suppose.

    I am definitely thinking from the lender's point of view, because based on my research that's where the postulating and calls for regulation tend to have come from. In terms of personal experience, I have a mortgage but no other debt - I've never held a credit card and I don't use BNPL, so my experience is limited. But it is that way because I'm wary of unsecured debt. The idea of it does not seem hugely responsible to me - but then I'm invested in IOU because I see great potential, not because I'm an ethical investor! However I much prefer the idea of BNPL over Credit Cards. When my kids are grown up I'd far prefer they used the former over the latter.
