Dan, no idea how things work at the pointy end. But does it matter whether it's water or oil coming out to measure flow?
I know that the product is a mix of oil, gas and NGLs and part of the IP24 will be the proportions (but how indicative of long term proportions is the IP24 anyway?) but surely the rate of water coming out of the well is directly proportional to the rate of hydrocarbons forcing the water out? So once simulation is over and the well starts spouting water (which I think you've mentioned can take days?) the pressure and flow rate of water should be an early indication of hydrocarbon flow?
