'In the beginning', refers to an eternal reality beyond time and it transcends Creation. It is changeless, placeless and yet is the source of all that exists. It is the "I am".
It is the indivisible, unknowable "Word" within the absolute realm of the eternal "I am".
For this Word to be expressed, revealed, made known in the physical realm, the realm of matter and humans, the Word must then manifest, or express itself through a human form. Even when the Word expresses itself through a human form, it also remains in an eternal, absolute condition beyond time, form and space.
The "Word" then is both G.d in an absolute state and G.d in a relative, time-bound conditional human form.
For the Christian the "Word" becoming flesh is Jesus and only Jesus, they don't seem to be able to understand anything beyond this. The "Word" of course has become flesh many times in the form of Krishna, Buddha, Zoroaster, Moses, Noah the indigenous Teachers, Baha'u'llah and so on. Like the rising and setting of the sun, this is an ongoing process and will continue for as long as humans exist.
