Thank you for your considered answer. My response A4paper was to answer in his Post #:53942751 where he asked " if a person is short.... so they have already sold the shares and are waiting to buy back......." ,are they a "holder" or a "non holder"........
My answer was that the person (the shorter) is a "non holder" because the shorter never owns the stock.
I did think that the shorter and the borrower were one and the same, however. So is it correct to say then that the shorter just sells the stock under a legal arrangement with the borrower and never borrows the stock in his/her own right?
