LOL glad to agree with you on a topic.
A larger population does have its benefits, if spread over areas other than just our cities.
Govt just needs better planning. They had a good system in which people could migrate to regional areas, and need to stay their for 5 years.
People get settled, and most will not move.
As the regional areas get more populated, infrastructure grows. Making it easier for people to live there happily.
More people, mean more jobs to support the extra people. From food to housing to shops etc.
And as you said, more taxes. The majority of immigrants will be of younger age, between 20 to 35, so they can support the aging population.
Again, you may disagree with me on the below points:
* Immigration should be based on skill
* Refugee immigration should be limited
# A large portion of the refugees do not work, compared to skilled labour immigrants
# Aus is chosen as a destination by refugees due to Welfare (No intent to work after getting in)
(USA agreed to take in 1000 refugees from our detention centres, only a handful took the deal, as Aus offered free money. They would need to work in the USA)
# As seen in Melbourne, Crime by refugees from certain background is rampant, harming Aussies
# Our taxpayers (small numbers compared to say USA, Eu or Canada) need to pay higher taxes to support the Rot.
Ofcourse all refugees are not the same, there are lovely people who get jobs and support the economy. But the % makes it unviable.
