Crypto, nice post. I have played with a few very similar ideas and it definitely has some merit. The playing I did I found I was more often trading against the trend and although it seems to work ok, the moves are usually small. I haven't done any testing but I think the way to use a signal like that would be to exit rather than enter when a 3rd deviation event happens.
Problem is, how do you know one is coming and when to enter?
