Being a geo myself I wouldn't give Geologists a hard time for they are the over worked and often under appreciated.

Project acquisition isn't an easy and fun job, going through and dealing with all the crap and miss managed data from other companies. It can be a nightmare and very time consuming going through and processing years and sometimes decades of data.

It seems to be the accountants who get all the fun jobs, boozy lunches and credit while we are stuck out bush for weeks and sometimes months on end stuck on a rig, mapping and sampling in extreme conditions.

For example when I worked in the Tanami desert, during the summer it would be 50 deg+ in the shade and 95% humidity (this is by 9am), working for 40 days straight living out of a tent with not even a radio signal. World war 3 could start and we wouldn't even know! Very few people can survive that kind of isolation and conditions. It was so hot and humid you would drink 10-15 liters of water a day and wouldn't urinate once. Believe me living out bush isn't what some people think.

Then I was sent of to Africa for 3 years living in the malaria ridden, witch doctor rain forest’s of Ghana working 100day straight stints. I was the only white person on site!

It is like teachers, nurses, ambulance officers and police (the non-corrupt ones) who are all unappreciated at times.
