I thought it was amusing to listen to Barnaby say outside parliament house yesterday how he will be guided by his colleagues on climate change policy, but he "... emphasised the need to understand the needs of the Australian economy rather than that of Germany or Denmark" (source AFR:

Yes, times are different to 10 or even 3 years ago.

We are in the midst of a stoush with China, our biggest trading partner and now Barnaby thinks he can antagonise all the other nations who have declared zero emission targets...

How ironic that today the Coalition government finds itself "blindsided" by the UNESCO's preliminary declaration of the GBR being classified as "in danger"...

This may or may not have been a plot by China... but if it was a plot, then it is even more telling that none of Australia's "allies" have provided the government with an early warning of what is to come...

Perhaps these are the kind of "surprised" Australians will have to learn to expect going forward, if we continue to thump our noses at the rest of the world that is aiming for zero emissions by 2050?

Poor old Warren Entsch did not seem too happy when he pointed out that most if not all farming organisation by now are calling for a zero emission target as well as more and more large mining businesses...

We are living in interesting times!

By the way, the reason I am so excited about Barnaby being back is that I once again completely disagree with you acorn. His ascent means that the climate change issue will come to a head within the coalition well before the next election.

    imho.
